A woman in Kokshetau under probation for theft removed her electronic monitoring bracelet without authorization and tried to leave the city — she now faces real imprisonment, the website infohub.kz reports.

According to the Department of the Penal Enforcement System for the Akmola Region, probation service officers in Kokshetau stopped a case of malicious violation of the terms of serving a sentence by a local resident sentenced to a punishment not involving imprisonment.

The woman violated court-imposed restrictions: she removed her electronic monitoring bracelet without authorization and attempted to leave the city limits.

Thanks to continuous digital monitoring, probation service officers promptly recorded the loss of signal from the electronic device and immediately launched search operations. As a result of the rapid response, the woman was located on the road out of Kokshetau toward the Kokshetau–Petropavlovsk highway. She was detained before she could leave the city.

A medical examination found psychotropic substances known as "salt" in the detainee's body. An administrative case was opened against her on this fact. By a court decision, the woman was fined 120,000 tenge. Circumstances including the presence of minor children were taken into account when determining the penalty.

In addition, the convicted woman received a written warning for violating the conditions of serving her sentence and removing the electronic bracelet without authorization.

The authorized body has now prepared and sent materials to the court for consideration of replacing the imposed sentence with real imprisonment and sending the convicted woman to a penal institution.
