Officers from the drug crime unit in Kokshetau have shut down the operations of an alleged drug warehouse packer, a 28-year-old native of Petropavlovsk, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to the press service of the Akmola Region Police Department, the man was detained during operational search activities. Investigators say he came to Kokshetau in August specifically to distribute drugs through stashes. He had previously engaged in the same illegal activity in Petropavlovsk and later expanded it to cover Kostanay and Kokshetau as well.
“In Kokshetau the suspect rented an apartment, which he used as a warehouse. There he stored and packaged the banned substances into single doses, after which he placed them in hiding spots. According to preliminary data, the man could make from 100 to 200 stashes a day, and he received payment for his activity in cryptocurrency,” the Akmola Region Police Department said.
Police established that over time the suspect moved from working as an ordinary stashman to the role of warehouse packer. He received large batches of banned substances, packaged them and prepared them for further sale.
During the detention and a subsequent search of his home, police found a whole assortment of drugs and psychotropic substances. Seized from illegal circulation were 320 grams of marijuana, 370.83 grams of hashish oil, 787.07 grams of hashish, as well as 141 packets and two plastic bags containing the psychotropic substance a-PVP with a total weight of 1 kilogram 80 grams.
A pre-trial investigation is underway. The suspect has been placed in a temporary detention facility. He faces a prison sentence of 7 to 12 years.
