Kazakhstan’s colleges have been allowed to rent out their gyms and swimming pools during non-school hours, reports infohub.kz.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Education, colleges in Kazakhstan have been granted the right to lease physical fitness and sports facilities during times free from educational activities. The relevant amendments were made to the Law “On Education” as part of the Law “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Improving Social Legislation.”
“Previously, this option was only available for secondary schools. Now, sports halls, swimming pools, stadiums and other sports facilities at colleges can be used by local residents after classes are over,” the ministry said.
Revenue from rentals can be used by colleges for the maintenance and repair of sports facilities, the purchase of modern sports equipment, and the development of their material and technical base. This will help keep infrastructure in good condition and expand colleges’ capacity to develop educational activities, the ministry noted.
“The adopted changes will ensure more efficient use of the sports infrastructure of state colleges, promote mass sports, popularize a healthy lifestyle, and increase access to quality physical education conditions for Kazakhstan’s citizens,” the ministry added.
