The Russian pop group 'Korni' will perform at the opening of the World Nomad Games in Bishkek, sparking mixed reactions from the public, reports infohub.kz.

The organizers of the 6th World Nomad Games have announced the first star guest of the opening ceremony. On August 31, the group 'Korni' will perform at the new Bishkek Arena stadium. The musicians have already recorded a video message and confirmed their arrival. However, the public's reaction was not what the authorities expected.

Social media users in Kyrgyzstan are expressing dissatisfaction. The main reason is the mismatch with the theme. Readers wonder why a forgotten pop group from the 2000s is performing at a major ethno-festival of nomadic culture, instead of artists with national or ethnic flavor.

Social media is flooded with ironic and indignant comments. Users note that while neighboring Kazakhstan is hosting Kanye West, Kyrgyzstan is bringing 'Korni' for Independence Day and the opening of the Games.

People suggest inviting local stars or well-known performers from the region.

"These are the Nomad Games, after all. Invite Dimash, Tarkan, Roza Zergerli, Roza Rymbayeva. Our Mirbek and Begish, Kairat Nurtas, 'Yalla'. Why some second-rate acts?"

"Don't worry so much, brothers. You built a new stadium, you'll make noise! World stars will easily come to you."

"I don't even have enough swear words to express my indignation," users write.

Meanwhile, the organizers are calming the audience and promising that 'Korni' is far from the only guest of the program. The names of other foreign and Kyrgyz performers are promised to be revealed later. Ticket sales for the opening have already started.

Earlier, 'Kursiv' reported that the administration of the President of Kyrgyzstan urged Bishkek residents to temporarily leave the capital at the end of August. The press secretary of the head of state, Askat Alagozov, asked citizens to spend the days from August 30 to September 1 on Issyk-Kul or other vacation spots to avoid logistical collapse.
