The prosecutor's office has sent to court a criminal case concerning the brutal beating of a police officer in the courtyard of a residential building in Kostanay. Three men will appear in the dock, reports infohub.kz.
The incident occurred on the morning of March 28 in the Bereke neighborhood. According to information circulated in messengers, a group of young people attacked the officer after he reprimanded them for disturbing public order.
Police promptly identified and detained all suspects at the scene. A criminal case was opened on the fact of an attack on a representative of authority, and the court authorized the arrest of three defendants for two months.
As reported by the Alau TV channel, the Kostanay prosecutor's office sent to court a criminal case against three individuals accused of using violence against a police officer. According to the pre-trial investigation materials, the incident occurred in the courtyard of a residential building.
"The three accused were intoxicated and disturbing public order. The police officer made a remark to them, after which the men reacted aggressively and used violence against him. The police officer sustained multiple bodily injuries. The actions of the accused are qualified under the article 'Use of violence dangerous to life or health against a representative of authority in connection with the performance of his official duties'," the prosecutor's office said in a statement.
The sanction of this article provides for imprisonment for a term of 10 to 15 years. The prosecutor's office of Kostanay region clarified that the trial will be held in open format, and the final decision on the case will be made by the court.
