A district court in Kazakhstan's Kostanay Region has ruled against a man who stalked a woman and caused a scene at her workplace. He was handed 20 days of administrative arrest for repeatedly violating a protection order, the website infohub.kz reports.

Police issued the first protection order against the stalker on August 5, 2026. The man was formally barred from any actions causing physical or mental suffering to the woman.

But the offender ignored the ban just two days later. He showed up at the woman's workplace and caused a scene.

In court, the man tried to justify himself, claiming he had simply stopped by the store to buy cigarettes and that the "verbal spat happened on its own." The court viewed these arguments critically and considered them an attempt to evade responsibility. Moreover, after the store visit, the stalker began hiding from police officers and the court.

The stalker's guilt was fully established by the protocol, the victim's testimony and other case materials.

For the repeated violation of the protection order (Part 1-1 of Article 461 of Kazakhstan's Code of Administrative Offences), the court sentenced the man to 20 days of administrative arrest.

The court's ruling has not yet entered into force.
