Residents of Moskovskoye village in the Kostanay region are opposing the construction of an animal burial site, while local authorities have tried to reassure them, according to infohub.kz.

News of an animal burial site being built near Moskovskoye village has angered residents. They say such a facility is needed, but the location is wrong.

"First, there is a body of water here, even if it is overgrown with reeds, there are fish, and there is a pit where children and adults relax. We already have an animal burial site, it is not that far from the village, it is located on a hill, there are no lakes or any groundwater," local resident Vitaly Chuprinin said.

Meanwhile, the head of the rural district said there is no talk of building an animal burial site, and no project exists yet.

"Geological exploration is underway. There is no talk of building an animal burial site yet. You saw, you drove past, geological exploration is being conducted for groundwater," explained Adilkhan Mukanov, akim of the Moskovsky rural district.

Correspondents reported that some construction work is still ongoing, and after an inquiry, the basin inspection went to the village.

"In accordance with the requirement of the Water Code, the placement of an animal burial site within water protection zones is strictly prohibited. No applications for the allocation of a land plot or approval of any work have been received by the inspection," explained Natalya Gerasimova, head of the water fund protection department of the Tobol-Torgai basin inspection.

It is reported that the information will be forwarded to the department of land resources management.

In addition, the inspection said that in areas with groundwater, restrictions are established by law if this water is used for water supply.

As reported by television channel correspondents, the akimat intends to move the construction of the animal burial site to another location.
