Information spread on social media about an alleged terrorist attack being planned at educational institutions in Kostanay. Law enforcement officers immediately inspected the specified facilities and launched a search for the author of the post, reports infohub.kz.

According to TobolInfo, messages with threats against several educational institutions in the city appeared on a Telegram channel. The list included Kostanay Regional University, the Polytechnic and Medical Colleges, and Secondary School No. 17.

An unknown person claimed that explosive devices had allegedly been planted in the buildings and stated preparations for illegal actions. The start date of the actions was named as October 7.

The press service of the Kostanay Region Police Department told a NUR.KZ correspondent that an urgent check was conducted after the information was received. "All buildings mentioned in the letter have been inspected. No explosives, explosive devices, or other suspicious items were found. Following the spread on social media of information about an alleged planned act of terrorism at educational institutions in Kostanay, the police have launched a pre-trial investigation," the police assured.

The regional police department added that the author of the post and all circumstances of the incident are currently being identified.

In addition, citizens are asked to remain calm, not to panic, and not to spread unverified information. Police reminded that spreading knowingly false reports carries criminal liability.
