Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin, said that victory in the Ukraine conflict is "very close" and expressed confidence in the successful progress of military operations, according to infohub.kz.
Speaking at a briefing for journalists ahead of the BRICS summit, Peskov emphasized: "We are confident that victory (in the Ukraine conflict - ed.) is very close. We are very confident in our military potential, in our military actions, they are proceeding very successfully."
According to him, the conflict could have ended much earlier if the Kyiv authorities had shown readiness for difficult decisions. "If someone in Kyiv had taken responsibility and made very difficult decisions, the war could have ended long ago," he added.
It is worth recalling that over the past weekend, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and White House adviser Jared Kushner visited Moscow, where they held talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Later, they met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. After that, Witkoff spoke about possible negotiations involving Zelensky, Putin, and Trump.
