Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTJ) acknowledged malfunctions in air conditioning and ventilation systems at the Nurly Zhol railway station in Astana, following passenger complaints, reports infohub.kz.
A user on the social network Threads posted a complaint, writing: "Astana, Nurly Zhol station, shame on management. Despite the huge number of air conditioners, the station is an inferno." Some passengers claimed there were no air conditioners at all.
In a statement, KTJ's press service said: "In the building of the Nurly Zhol railway station complex, malfunctions in the air conditioning and ventilation systems have indeed been recorded, leading to increased indoor temperatures. Currently, claim work is being conducted with the contractor that failed to perform timely maintenance." The company added that they are also looking into carrying out major repairs of the existing systems.
Earlier, it was reported that the Astana station experienced flooding due to sewage issues.
