In Almaty, a delivery courier helped prevent a potentially serious crime against a woman after hearing cries for help in the middle of the night and intervening, reports infohub.kz.
The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. in a residential complex in the Medeu district. According to police, the courier was leaving a building after completing an order when he heard a woman's screams coming from the security room. Without hesitation, he intervened to stop the unlawful actions and then called a patrol unit.
Officers arrived, arrested the suspect, and took him to the Medeu district police station. "Thanks to the timely intervention of a witness, the criminal intent was not carried out. A pre-trial investigation has been launched, and the circumstances are being established," police said.
Police emphasized that citizen awareness often helps prevent serious crimes and urged anyone in similar situations to immediately call 102.
