The Kazakh currency is ending the trading week with a notable weakening against the dollar: according to exchange data at 17:00, the weighted average rate reached 448.36 tenge per dollar, compared with 442.26 tenge at the same time the previous day — a daily difference of 6.10 tenge, infohub.kz reports.
As recently as Monday, September 28, the same indicator stood at 441.77 tenge.
During trading, the US currency fluctuated within a wide range. The minimum price was 444.29 tenge, the maximum reached 451.62 tenge, and the last transactions were concluded at 451.50 tenge per dollar.
Activity among foreign exchange market participants was also high. The total trading volume in dollars amounted to $457.328 million, with 1,252 transactions concluded on the exchange.
The rate increase also affected exchange offices. According to kurs.kz, by 17:12 the maximum selling price for the dollar in Astana was 452 tenge, and in Almaty — 453 tenge.
The National Bank's official rate for October 2 is set at 441.89 tenge per dollar. For October 3-5, in accordance with the current procedure for setting it, the official rate will be 447.73 tenge per $1.
The current price of Brent crude on the global market is around $101.7 per barrel.
