Nurbek Sydygaliev, a member of the Jogorku Kenesh, demanded that Kyrgyz Transport Minister Talantbek Soltobaev avoid repeating the mistakes of Kamchybek Tashiev and appear personally at parliamentary committee meetings, infohub.kz reports.
The incident occurred on September 16 during a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh committee on industrial policy, transport, fuel and energy complex, architecture and construction. According to Sydygaliev, lawmakers had to convene an emergency session because the invited head of the Transport Ministry failed to attend the scheduled one.
The irate parliamentarian stressed that if deputies, as servants of the people, invite a government agency head, that person must come in person rather than sending deputies in his place.
"Remember how Tashiev and his ilk said they were friends of the president and behaved accordingly. They would come to sessions and act arrogantly. But the fate of a prime minister, deputy prime ministers and ministers can be decided by a single signature... Yes, you are working well now, and we thank you for that. But please, do not embarrass yourself like Tashiev," Sydygaliev said.
The MP urged Soltobaev to respect lawmakers and reminded him that a minister can be dismissed with just one signature.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that a court in Bishkek had delivered a verdict in the criminal case against former State Committee for National Security head Kamchybek Tashiev and seven other defendants. Instead of the nine years sought by prosecutors, the court sentenced them to four years in prison each.
