In the fight for third place in the under-66-kilogram weight class, the national team member from Kazakhstan faced Zi Yang Xue of China. Regulation time produced no winner, sending the contest into a Golden Score period.
The decisive moment came at the 7:03 mark, when the Chinese judoka scored a yuko to claim victory. Kyrgyzbaev thus finished one step away from a medal at the 2026 Asian Games.
In the bronze-medal bout of the 2026 Asian Games in the under-52-kilogram weight class, Kazakhstan's Meruyert Sarsenova took on Japanese judoka Kokoro Fujishiro. The contest ended in a win for her opponent in extra time, leaving Sarsenova to finish fifth.
Earlier, Yeldos Smetov in the under-60-kilogram weight class and Abiba Abuzhakynova in the under-48-kilogram division won silver medals at the Asian Games.
