Kyrgyzstan has received an additional quota for the duty-free import of 10,000 electric vehicles, the State Customs Service of the Kyrgyz Republic reported. Thus, in 2026, the benefit will apply to 25,000 electric vehicles instead of the previously planned 15,000, according to infohub.kz.
The decision was made by the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission on July 9, 2026, and will take effect on August 17. The additional quota is available to Kyrgyz citizens permanently residing in the country.
Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce Sultan Akhmatov stressed that vehicles imported under the preferential quota cannot be used for resale.
The list includes:
"pure" electric vehicles — code 8703 80 000 3 of the EAEU Foreign Economic Activity Commodity Nomenclature;
vehicles with a sequential hybrid powertrain — code 8703 80 000 5 of the EAEU Foreign Economic Activity Commodity Nomenclature.
The customs service noted that the measure is aimed at developing eco-friendly transport and creating more affordable conditions for purchasing electric vehicles.
At the same time, the benefit is valid within the established quota. Once it is exhausted, the import of such vehicles will be subject to a customs duty of 15% of the customs value.
Earlier it was reported that neighboring Kazakhstan had almost exhausted its preferential quota for electric vehicle imports.
