Police in Kyzylorda are still searching for the driver of a Mitsubishi Lancer who struck a woman and her five-month-old son and fled the scene. The baby died and his mother is in intensive care, the website infohub.kz reports.
It was reported earlier that the horrific road accident was caught on video. On 13 October the driver hit the woman and her small child and drove away. The injured woman was taken to intensive care with severe injuries, while the baby died in hospital.
The Kyzylorda Region Police Department said criminal cases had been opened over the accident, which caused a death, and over the leaving of the scene. The driver has been identified and measures are being taken to detain him.
Today, 21 October, police in the Kyzylorda Region published a wanted notice for the suspect. According to the department, he is Aleksei Aleksandrovich Velikov, born on 1 July 2000.
The man is suspected of a crime under Part 3 of Article 345 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
