Prosecutors in Kazakhstan's Kyzylorda Region have uncovered illegal overpayments by the regional branch of the Social Health Insurance Fund (OSMS) to private clinics, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to the supervisory authority's official website, the audit found that state medical organizations paid private medical providers — co-executors — amounts exceeding their contractual obligations.
In particular, the Zhanaqorgan Central District Hospital, a state-owned enterprise, transferred 33.1 million tenge above the contracted amount in 2023 and 6.6 million tenge in 2024 to a private company. The Aral Central District Hospital, also a state-owned enterprise, transferred 13.8 million tenge in 2023 and 18.6 million tenge in 2024 above the established amount over the same period.
As a result, 73 million tenge was unjustifiably transferred to the co-executor.
Following the prosecutors' response, the violations were remedied and the officials responsible were disciplined. Based on court rulings, the full 73 million tenge has been recovered.
