The reconstruction of railway stations at Zhosaly, Toretam and Aral teńizi in Kyzylorda Region has been completed, the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported. Repair work is still ongoing at two other stations in the region, according to infohub.kz.
At the three stations, facades, roofs, interiors and engineering systems were renovated, and platforms and adjacent areas were repaired. Energy-saving windows and aluminum stained-glass panels were installed in the buildings, along with equipment and furniture. Kazakh-made materials were used for the finishing work.
The two-story station building at Zhosaly was constructed in 1905. Its area is 628.8 sq m. The station handles 22 passenger trains connecting it to major cities in Kazakhstan, as well as to Russia, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
At Toretam station, a two-story station building with an area of 628.8 sq m was reconstructed. On average, more than 340 passengers use it daily. The station handles 22 passenger trains.
The Aral teńizi station building was constructed in 1904. After reconstruction, its area is 439.8 sq m. The average daily passenger traffic exceeds 640 people. The station handles 24 passenger trains connecting Aral with cities in Kazakhstan and neighboring countries.
The reconstruction was carried out under a railway station modernization program on the instructions of the president. Work continues at Terenozek and Zhalagash stations in Kyzylorda Region.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that after reconstruction, a railway station was opened in Kostanay that can now accommodate up to 2,000 people at a time. The building has elevators, an escalator, a children's playroom and a 24-hour cafe.
