A mass leak of personal data has occurred in the Kyzylorda Region: heads of seven educational institutions in the Shieli district posted confidential information about 529 of their employees on the public procurement portal, reports infohub.kz.

According to the Kyzylorda Region prosecutor's office, all confidential information was simply attached to open documents on the public procurement portal. Prosecutors noticed the violation and intervened.

"These violations were identified in seven educational organizations, resulting in the violation of the labor rights of 529 employees. Based on the act of prosecutorial supervision, appropriate measures were taken to remove information containing personal data from the public procurement portal," the statement said.

Heads of educational organizations who allowed the illegal disclosure of personal data were brought to disciplinary responsibility.

The prosecutor's office emphasized that it keeps compliance with the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan under control.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, together with the National Security Committee, the Prosecutor General's Office and the Czech police, dismantled an international network illegally selling personal data of Kazakhstanis and CIS citizens. During joint searches, the organizers of the criminal scheme, who operated through a closed internet resource, were detained.

Before that, it was reported that the National Security Committee detained a group selling personal data of Kazakhstanis to microfinance organizations and debt collectors.
