In Kyzylorda, the family of 14-year-old Nurislambeck Raushanbek is insisting on an objective investigation into his death — according to their account, the boy died at the hands of a peer, the website infohub.kz reports.
Relatives said that on the day of the tragedy the teenager came to the central square to help his mother: the family rented out children's ride-on cars. According to them, a conflict with competitors arose at that spot, which ultimately led to the child's death.
"He worked there every day for hire, he told me himself: 'Auntie, I was the one who stuck it in, just don't call my mom, don't call the police.' Then two guys came up, grabbed him by the back of the neck and said: 'What did you say? Don't say anything,' and led him away. This didn't happen in a single day. The situation repeated and escalated time after time," the mother of the deceased said.
According to her, the suspect approached her son and, in front of her eyes, pulled a screwdriver out of his chest. The teenager was taken to hospital, but doctors could not save him.
The grieving family now demands an objective investigation. Relatives claim that a businesswoman competing for customers and her employees repeatedly threatened and intimidated the boy.
"This happened three or four times. The police also did not attach any importance to it. We demand justice, only justice. We do not believe that a small child, who is not yet capable of fully understanding things on his own, could have done such a thing himself. I think certain forces are behind this. We believe someone among the adults was involved in what happened," the murdered boy's aunt said.
According to police, a minor suspect has been detained and a comprehensive investigation is under way.
"A criminal case has been opened over the intentional infliction of grave bodily harm that negligently caused the death of a minor. The suspect, who is also a minor, has been placed in the regional Center for the Adaptation of Minors. In addition, as part of the investigation, a criminal case has been registered over the failure to fulfill duties to raise a minor," the regional Police Department said.
