A powerful landslide struck near the border crossing between China and Nepal, leaving several people missing. Chinese President Xi Jinping has ordered all-out rescue efforts, according to infohub.kz.

The incident occurred today, August 26, near the Gyirong port in the Tibet Autonomous Region in southwestern China. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties, but several people are missing. The landslide has blocked roads leading to the checkpoint on the Chinese side and disrupted communication and power supply.

The Gyirong port is the main land border crossing on the Sino-Nepalese frontier. In Nepal, reports mention destroyed villages, damaged roads, bridges, and energy facilities in the region bordering Tibet.

President Xi Jinping has ordered the deployment of all necessary resources to search for and rescue the missing.
