Kostanay has seen the technical launch of Kazakhstan's largest indoor water park. The Octopus complex will start welcoming visitors in September 2026, according to infohub.kz.
The two-story water park spans over 9,000 square meters. It can accommodate up to 500 visitors at a time and will operate year-round.
The water park features seven pools totaling about 1,500 square meters, including a wave pool with artificial waves, a children's area, Aquatonic, and various water attractions.
Kostanay Region Governor Kumar Aksakalov attended the technical opening. He said authorities expect the new facility to become not only a family leisure spot but also one of the region's tourist attractions.
"Along with economic development and launching new factories and plants, we must create conditions for comfortable living and meaningful family leisure. The Kostanay region should have more unique facilities of interest to both residents and guests. One such place will be our largest indoor water park in the country," Aksakalov said.
The regional administration hopes the Octopus will draw tourists from other parts of Kazakhstan and neighboring countries.
Meanwhile, the city is developing other tourism and recreation infrastructure. Parks and squares are being improved, and walking and sports areas are being created. Additionally, authorities have previously announced plans to build hotels under international brands Marriott, Novotel, and Holiday Inn.
