Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, speaking from the rostrum of the United Nations General Assembly, accused European countries of deliberately obstructing a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. This was reported by infohub.kz.
According to the head of Russia's foreign policy department, European states are doing everything possible to prevent peace talks and undermine their prospects, which many parties, including the Trump administration, are interested in.
"In Europe, they are doing everything to hinder a peaceful settlement and derail the prospects for negotiations, which many are interested in, including the Trump administration," Lavrov said.
The minister also noted that European countries are destroying the system of European security for what he called a "utopian goal" of containing Russia.
Furthermore, Lavrov pointed out that the West, realizing the futility of its efforts, continues its course of escalation: supplying weapons to Ukraine and facilitating strikes on civilian infrastructure and the civilian population.
"In the West, they dream of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia, but these dreams, as has happened many times in the past, will lead the warmongers themselves into a strategic dead end," the diplomat warned.
Recall that earlier, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, said that trilateral talks involving Ukraine and the United States could take place in the near future.
