Kazakh shooters Alexandra Le and Islam Satpayev failed to reach the final of the mixed team event at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi and Nagoya, scoring 629.1 points in qualification, infohub.kz reports.
The 2024 Olympic bronze medalists competed in the 10-meter air rifle event. The Kazakh duo finished fifth in qualification, with only the top four teams advancing to the final.
China posted the best result with 638.9 points, setting a new world qualification record. India, South Korea and Japan also secured places in the four-team final.
At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Le and Satpayev won bronze medals in this event.
The Games officially opened on September 19. The multi-sport competition, featuring athletes from 45 countries, will award 460 sets of medals: 217 in men's events, 204 in women's events and 39 in mixed events. Kazakhstan is represented by 558 athletes competing in 35 sports at the 2026 Asian Games.
On the first day of the Games, Kazakh athletes won four gold medals. Cyclists Rinata Sultanova and Alexey Lutsenko, along with karate athletes Zholaman Bigabyl and Sofya Berultseva, became champions of the Games. After the second day, Kazakhstan stood fourth in the unofficial team standings.
