Legendary American basketball player LeBron James has announced his move to the Philadelphia 76ers, reports infohub.kz.
The 41-year-old forward admitted that after last season he was ready to end his career, but he still loves basketball. "The last few weeks have been really special. I've never before been able to just take time to think, without the faintest idea of what to do. These past few months I've been around people I love, trying to figure things out. Now a decision has been made. I'm not chasing money. I'm not doing this for family. So why am I playing at this stage? I still want to make sacrifices. Still want to work and grind. Still want to compete, win, and have a chance to taste another championship. I believe I can help make the 76ers a championship team. And I'm excited to inspire a new fan base and start an incredible journey one last time," James wrote.
James also thanked his former teams: the Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Miami Heat. His agent, Rich Paul, told ESPN that James signed a two-year, $8 million contract.
James is a four-time NBA champion and four-time league MVP. He holds NBA records for points scored (43,440), seasons played (23), and games played (1,917). He has won three Olympic gold medals and one bronze with the U.S. national team.
