London Fashion Week has once again drawn attention with an unconventional performance: pregnancy and breast milk became part of a runway show, reports infohub.kz.
The show took place on September 21 in London. The collection was created by Greek designer Dimitra Petsa, who dedicated the show to motherhood, pregnancy and changes in the female body.
One of the participants was pregnant singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock. She appeared on the runway in a white outfit with an exposed belly and an accessory that became the centerpiece of the performance.
During the finale, jets of liquid simulating breast milk began shooting from the bra. They hit the models standing next to Pinnock.
The show itself, like the line, was titled Holy Milk. Alongside pregnant Pinnock, other expectant mothers and mothers with children took part. Pinnock is currently expecting her third child. The singer already has twins, born in 2021. The star of the show called the experience on the runway inspiring.
"Pregnancy is often seen as something to hide. We are told to cover up, to be careful, to choose clothes that accommodate our changing bodies. And in that process, we can forget that our body belongs to us and we have the right to be proud of it. So the opportunity to walk the runway pregnant, without hiding what the body is capable of, and to celebrate it," Pinnock wrote on social media after the show.
