A resident of Aktau has filed a lawsuit after suffering severe complications from liposuction. An inspection revealed violations at the clinic, reports infohub.kz.
The woman filed a civil suit after undergoing liposuction at a private clinic. An inspection by the territorial department of the Committee for Medical and Pharmaceutical Control found a number of violations, including the lack of a license to perform surgical operations.
The results of the unscheduled inspection were announced by Nursulu Mukhametiyarova, head of the department of the Committee for Medical and Pharmaceutical Control for the Mangistau region.
"The inspection revealed a number of violations, including non-compliance with the standard of surgical care, violation of licensing norms, and the use of expired medicines. During the inspection, it was found that the clinic had medicines whose expiration date had passed in April. A month was given to eliminate the violations," said Nursulu Mukhametiyarova.
Following the inspection, administrative protocols were drawn up against the management of the medical institution for violating licensing norms, non-compliance with standards of medical care, and pharmaceutical rules. The total amount of fines amounted to nearly 700,000 tenge.
As the head of the department explained, the clinic had a license only for outpatient care in the field of plastic surgery. It allowed consultations but did not give the right to perform surgical operations.
"The clinic lacks an annex to the license for medical activities under the profile 'Inpatient-replacing medical care for adults - plastic surgery'. According to medical documentation, explanations of specialists, and the conclusion of an independent expert involved in the unscheduled inspection, the medical care provided did not meet the current standards of surgical and anesthesiological care of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It was established that the low quality of surgical technique and insufficient postoperative care are in direct causal connection with the development of a complication - phlegmon of the anterior abdominal wall," says the inspection report, shared by the patient Kamila Nurzhan.
The inspection report was sent to the police department of the Mangistau region for legal assessment. In addition, the document was transferred to the department of sanitary and epidemiological control to check the compliance of the operating unit and intensive care unit with sanitary requirements.
Kamila Nurzhan herself said that she had already contacted the police and filed a civil lawsuit, demanding compensation for material and moral damage.
"Now I am continuing treatment and recovery. After the operation and severe inflammatory process, the body is greatly weakened, the hemoglobin level dropped to 83 units. I am undergoing prescribed treatment, restoring blood counts, and under the supervision of doctors. The consequences of the operation still make themselves felt, so the recovery process is not yet complete. There are noticeable scars, and pus is still present. Meanwhile, the clinic continues to work, having changed its Instagram account," she said.
Earlier, Kamila Nurzhan stated that after liposuction at one of the private clinics in Aktau, she was urgently hospitalized with severe purulent inflammation.
