Two separate incidents involving tourists who lost their way occurred in the mountains of Almaty. Rescuers assisted three young women and later a couple, as reported by infohub.kz.
The first incident took place in the Bostandyk district, near the Japanese Road, at an altitude of 1,900 meters. Staff from the Monitoring and Rapid Response Center came to the aid of three women who had strayed from the tourist trail and could not descend on their own. Due to the difficult terrain, rescuers used climbing equipment to ensure a safe descent.
"The women did not require medical assistance. After the descent, they made their way home independently," rescuers reported.
Later, in the same area, in the Almarasan gorge above Ecopark, a young man born in 1998 and a woman born in 2007 got lost. They could not find their way back to the trail. Rescuers from the Republican Rescue Service "Barys" of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were dispatched to search for them. The tourists were found near the observation deck at an altitude of about 2,350 meters.
The rescuers escorted them to a bus stop in Almarasan. They did not require medical attention.
Rescuers remind: before heading to the mountains, it is necessary to study the route, assess weather conditions and your physical capabilities, and stay on marked trails.
