Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko criticized Moldova's leadership over its decision to withdraw from the Commonwealth of Independent States. This was reported by infohub.kz.

The transcript of the Belarusian leader's speech at the CIS summit of heads of state was published on the official Telegram channel of Alexander Lukashenko's press service, "Pul Pervogo."

"In April 2027, Moldova will de jure leave the CIS. This is not the choice of ordinary Moldovans, but a short-sighted decision by the leadership. Moreover, they themselves understand this and are trying to maintain participation in the Free Trade Area Treaty," Lukashenko said.

During his speech, he urged Moldova's leadership to preserve the opportunity "for ordinary Moldovan citizens not to sever channels of interaction, at least at the initial stage."

"History always repeats itself. We already have the experience of Georgia's withdrawal from the CIS. But today we see how the situation is changing. It is obvious that returning to normal relations is easier along the beaten track of the Commonwealth's mechanisms," he added.

Recall that earlier, Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi stated that the country will officially leave the CIS on April 8, 2027.
