French President Emmanuel Macron has said Europe could become a military target for Russia because it serves as Ukraine's strategic rear base. This was reported by infohub.kz.
According to the French leader, he considers it plausible that Russia could mobilize 300,000 people in the near future. Citing intelligence from the United States, Europe and Ukraine, Macron added that Russia had been waiting for the State Duma elections to take place.
In addition, the French president noted that hostile actions across Europe have increased in recent weeks.
"Last week I summoned representatives of political forces to warn them about the development of this threat, about the consequences for us in our country. Russia believes that Europe is Ukraine's strategic rear base, because Europeans help Ukrainians, and because Kyiv strikes oil refineries and facilities in Russia to force it to stop the war. That is why Europe could become a target," Macron said.
According to him, attacks are also being carried out in the information sphere through the spread of fakes and in cyberspace.
Macron had previously said that France is preparing a plan to protect critical infrastructure amid the growing threat of hybrid attacks from Russia.
Recall that it was previously reported that Lithuanian authorities have prepared a detailed evacuation plan for residents in the event of a military threat. It is reported that citizens are planned to be evacuated to Poland.
It was also reported that German authorities have begun checking the level of readiness of the country's healthcare systems for war and a mass influx of wounded.
