French President Emmanuel Macron admitted in private messages that he badly misses former German Chancellor Angela Merkel and former Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi. The claim was made by journalist Françoise Degois, according to the website infohub.kz.
According to NUR.KZ, citing RBC, the French outlet RTL has reviewed Degois's book "You Are All Strict With Me." In it, she purportedly reveals details of her correspondence with the French president on Telegram that lasted about two years. Degois said she did not ask the president for permission to publish the messages. The book comes out on November 5.
According to the report, Macron admitted in the private messages that he misses former German Chancellor Angela Merkel and former Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi. "I'm bored. Everything is gloomy and devoid of creative energy. I badly miss Mario Draghi and Angela Merkel. Yes, sometimes what is happening weighs on me," Macron reportedly wrote in October 2024 during a European Union summit in Brussels.
Angela Merkel served as German chancellor from 2005 to 2021 and was chairwoman of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) from 2000 to 2018.
Mario Draghi served as Italy's prime minister in 2021–2022 and as president of the European Central Bank in 2011–2019.
