Maira Meldebekova has been dismissed from her post as First Vice Minister of Education of Kazakhstan, according to infohub.kz.
The corresponding government decree was published on primeminister.kz. The document states: "By a decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Meldebekova Maira Turganbayevna has been relieved of her position as First Vice Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan."
Meldebekova had held the post since May 2025. Born in 1971, she graduated from the Almaty State University named after Abai and the Kyzylorda State University named after Korkyt Ata. From 1993 to 2005, she worked as a mathematics and computer science teacher in secondary schools in Shymkent, Almaty Region, and East Kazakhstan Region. From 2005 to 2018, she held leadership positions in the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan. In 2018–2020, she served as head of the Education Department of Kyzylorda Region. In 2020–2021, she chaired the Committee for Preschool and Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education and Science. In 2021–2022, she was deputy chair of the Committee for Quality Assurance in Education of the Ministry of Education and Science. From 2022 to 2025, she served as deputy chair of the Committee for Quality Assurance in Education of the Ministry of Education.
