French President Emmanuel Macron has criticized foreign leaders for their remarks about mass protests in the country, the website infohub.kz reports.
During a visit to Qatar, Macron sharply condemned "unacceptable and foolish comments by foreign leaders," pointing to manipulation of information about the October 17 demonstrations in France. This was reported by European Pravda, citing a translation of a BFMTV publication.
"In my view, there was no clear foreign interference in the events that took place, but there is foreign manipulation of information that led to unacceptable and absurd comments from many, including foreign leaders," the French president told journalists in Doha.
"We saw images created by artificial intelligence showing scenes that never happened in France," Macron added.
According to the president, everyone now speaking badly about France is "people who do not love it."
"These people irritate me!.. We have difficulties, but we are dealing with them methodically, with respect, determination and firmness (...) but one should not say just anything," Macron stressed.
The French president announced that on Thursday, October 22, he will hold a meeting with representatives of the intelligence services, as well as with Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu and the relevant ministers, to receive a detailed report on the October 17 protests.
Recall that in late September, France was swept by protests by high school students. Recently in Paris, spontaneous protests took place before a large student demonstration, one of which ended in clashes with police and the use of tear gas.
On October 19, the legendary Louvre museum, which houses many artistic and historical relics, was closed to visitors due to protests in the streets of Paris.
We also wrote that a curfew will be introduced in some French cities due to mass protests.
Earlier it became known that 2,513 people were detained over three days of unrest in the country.
