An incident involving a 19-year-old man who walked around a shopping mall with a knife occurred in the capital's shopping and entertainment center. The website infohub.kz reports on the incident.
The incident happened shortly before the mall closed. One of the mall's employees said on social media that the young man approached a kiosk selling e-cigarettes and demanded vape sticks. After being refused, he pulled out a knife and threatened the seller, then grabbed a bag, kicked the kiosk structure, and headed to a neighboring store.
“He came in and started waving a knife, demanding, 'Give me the sticks.' Then he said, 'Give me the sticks or I'll kill you,'” the girl wrote. Frightened employees called security, and the young man ran away.
The Astana police department commented on the situation. Law enforcement received a report about a man with a knife entering boutiques. Officers who arrived at the scene identified the offender as a 19-year-old man. He was taken to the police department to clarify the circumstances.
“During the investigation, it was established that the young man took the knife from home. Moreover, he has health problems. An ambulance was called for him, after which he was handed over to his father,” the Astana police department explained.
