Police in Atyrau are searching for a man who allegedly harassed a 12-year-old schoolgirl, according to her parents, who have filed a complaint and provided surveillance footage to authorities, reports infohub.kz.
The girl's parents say the man demanded that she buy him alcohol and kiss him on the lips. After the incident, they filed a police report and handed over CCTV footage.
“He intimidated her, shouted, and behaved aggressively. He demanded she buy him alcohol. My daughter replied, 'Okay, just let me go, let's go to the store.' She hoped to ask for help there. When they stopped, he demanded she kiss him on the lips and started pulling her toward him. At that moment, she grabbed his hair at the back of his head, he loosened his grip, and she managed to break free and run away,” said the mother, Balausa Oteuova.
The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on Sunday. The schoolgirl was returning home from a playground when a stranger approached her. Relatives believe that if the child had not managed to escape, it could have ended in sexual assault. The man appeared to be drunk and very aggressive. After hearing the story from their daughter, the parents rushed to the police. Since the incident, the girl is afraid to leave the house, the adults say. At the station, they are investigating and commenting very cautiously.
“A criminal case has been opened regarding the incident. Currently, operational search activities are underway to identify and detain the suspect,” the police department of Atyrau region reported.
