Police in Almaty are investigating a domestic incident after a woman sought help. A resident of the Aksay microdistrict reported that her husband assaulted her during an argument and then fled, infohub.kz reports.
The call came in to the 102 emergency line. The first officer on the scene was the district police inspector for the Auezov district. The officer listened to the complainant, documented the circumstances, and took her statement. Subsequently, operational units were deployed and are working to locate the suspect.
In a statement, the police department said the man's whereabouts would be determined and he would be taken into custody shortly. An investigation into the assault is underway, with all circumstances being established. The department noted that a legal assessment will be made regarding the actions of each party involved.
Police remind the public that domestic violence is an offense punishable by law. The department emphasized that legislation in this area has been significantly tightened, and every such report is given special attention.
