Eight families in the village of Mangystau, Munaily District, Mangystau Region, are still living in a house where the floors are collapsing, and are asking to be provided with new housing, the website infohub.kz reports.

According to the residents, the floors in the building are caving in, and in some places holes have already formed. The house has not undergone major repairs in about 40 years. Investors, in turn, show no interest in building new housing.

A "Renovation" program aimed at renewing dilapidated and unsafe housing has been launched in the region. However, according to its residents, this particular house is not included in the program.

"I no longer want to live in this house. Because the floors are collapsing everywhere. In some places holes have already formed. There are only eight families here. I demand that we be provided with the housing we are entitled to," says Orinbibi Saurbayeva, a resident of the village of Mangystau.

Askar Tazhibayev, the akim of the village of Mangystau, explained that an expert assessment was carried out, as a result of which the house was recognized as dilapidated, not unsafe. "Now we need to attract an investor. There is no other mechanism yet, since the building has not been recognized as unsafe," he noted.
