Dozens of people were hospitalized with E. coli and staphylococcus after eating sushi in Boralday. Sanitary officials released the results of the inspection, according to infohub.kz.
The incident occurred a month ago when mass poisoning was reported after a meal at a sushi bar in Boralday. Sanitary inspectors checked the establishment. They found insects in the kitchen, E. coli on tables and utensils, and raw materials and finished products stored directly on the floor. Additionally, the owner had no certificates for the fish, rice, and cheese, and staff worked without medical records.
“The sushi bar's operations have been completely suspended, hazardous products have been removed from circulation and destroyed. As of today, all victims have been discharged from the hospital as their health has improved,” said the Ili District Sanitary and Epidemiological Control Department.
After the inspection, the sushi bar was closed. Case materials have been handed over to law enforcement.
Recall that on June 17, it was reported that a food outlet in Boralday, Almaty region, was shut down after a mass of residents sought medical help. On June 18, information emerged about 65 poisoned individuals, 36 of whom were hospitalized.
