Controversial brand Matières Fécales staged a show at Paris Fashion Week, reports infohub.kz.
The event took place at Place de la République, one of central Paris's main venues. For Matières Fécales, it was the first show at this location. The collection featured 99 models, a nod to the collection's name, Ninety Nine Percent.
The finale of the show was titled Gods. In it, the designers turned to more complex looks with draping, unusual silhouettes, and meticulously crafted details. The show concluded with a procession around the Statue of the Republic, as models carried realistic figures of billionaires on their backs.
As Hypebae describes, this imagery continued the theme of critiquing wealth and power that Matières Fécales also raised in its previous collection. If the last show was dedicated to the "one percent" of the wealthiest, the new collection represents the remaining oppressed "99 percent." Through the show, the designers focused on the stories of people who remain less visible in the fashion world and society.
The final scene became one of the most talked-about parts of the show. The figures of certain billionaires literally ended up on the shoulders of models, who continued moving around Place de la République.
