Hollywood actor Matt Damon said that during filming of action scenes with Laestrygonian giants in 'The Odyssey,' he was doubled by Canadian stuntwoman Devyn Dalton, who impressed him with her biceps, Variety reports.
The actor, who plays Odysseus in Christopher Nolan's monumental historical epic, made the unexpected revelation on the 'Happy Sad Confused' podcast. The 55-year-old actor said that in several complex battle scenes against giants, he was replaced by female stunt performer Devyn Dalton. To create the optical illusion of the opponents' giant stature, the crew needed actors and doubles with specific physical characteristics. The giants were played by stunt performers over two meters tall, while for visual contrast, doubles for the main characters were cast under 150 centimeters. That's how Canadian stuntwoman Devyn Dalton became Damon's double.
Damon admitted he was amazed by her physique and toned biceps, calling her arms incredible. He personally thanked her for her work when they met on set. The stuntwoman also shared her experience of filming in Scotland on social media and expressed gratitude to the actor for his warm treatment and high praise of her work.
Previously, we reported that director Christopher Nolan admitted that the massive effort of adapting the ancient Greek epic completely exhausted him. His next big project will not be released anytime soon.
