American toy manufacturer Mattel has unveiled a new doll in its Barbie Signature series dedicated to legendary singer Whitney Houston. The release coincides with what would have been the artist's 63rd birthday in 2026, reports infohub.kz.
The doll was created in collaboration with the singer's estate. The unveiling took place at the Legacy of Love Gala in Atlanta, a charity event organized by the Whitney Houston Foundation.
The doll's look is inspired by Houston's iconic style from the music video for her 1987 hit "I Wanna Dance with Somebody." The figure wears a lilac form-fitting dress, complemented by voluminous curly hair, bold makeup, and jewelry. In one hand, the doll holds a microphone.
Pat Houston, the singer's sister-in-law and executor of her estate, was involved in the design process. According to her, creating such a doll was a long-held dream of Whitney's.
The collector doll is now available for purchase in online stores. Previously, Mattel's musical doll line added figures of Miley Cyrus, Kylie Minogue, and Tina Turner.
