A medical helicopter with five people on board crashed into the water off the coast of the United States. Two people died and another is still missing, according to infohub.kz.

As NBC4 reports, the aircraft went down shortly after taking off from Santa Catalina Island. Five people were on board.

"Four were pulled from the water and taken to hospital. Two of them died, and two others are in stable condition. The patient being transported from the island to the mainland has not yet been found," the report says.

The crash occurred around 7:50 p.m. near Pebbly Beach, about one and a half kilometers from the city of Avalon. The cause of the crash is not yet known.

"Conditions at the scene are calm right now, so I would call them ideal for searching. But after the crash there is a lot of debris in the water. In addition, some fuel from the helicopter has spilled into the water," said US Coast Guard commander Mark Leahy.
