More than 100 medical residents who failed the second stage of their final certification say the exam questions contained errors and did not match their specialty, Informburo.kz reports, citing a report by 31 Channel.
Graduates from medical universities in Almaty, Karaganda, Turkistan, Semey, and the West Kazakhstan region have voiced complaints. The main grievances concern illogical translation of questions into Kazakh, which students believe may have been done automatically, as well as a mismatch between the tasks and their field of training. For instance, oncologist Aigerim Yerkinbekova said she passed the first stage successfully but received questions on infectious diseases in the second. Radiologists, she said, were provided with low-quality medical images, making it difficult to complete the assignments.
Another complaint involves the lack of result analysis: the National Testing Center did not provide information about the errors made, leaving students unable to understand their scores.
Kazakhstan's Ministry of Health stated that the exam materials underwent multi-stage testological, methodological, and content review. The translation into Kazakh was done by specialists, and all clinical cases corresponded to the selected specialties. Graduates who did not pass the final certification have the right to appeal.
