Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, has denied rumors about a potential mobilization in Russia, calling the reports a false provocation, according to RIA Novosti, as reported by NUR.KZ. Read more on infohub.kz.
Medvedev chaired a meeting of the Security Council's interdepartmental commission on staffing the armed forces with contract servicemen. In his speech, he stated that the mobilization rumors are a "false provocation" spread online.
"This is part of propaganda ahead of the elections. They are trying, naturally, to destabilize the situation in our country and create negative sentiments," Medvedev said.
The former president also emphasized that there is no need for mobilization. "I specifically emphasize that there is absolutely no need for mobilization," he added.
