MEGOGO, the online cinema, has analyzed the listening preferences of Kazakhstani users in its 'Audio' section over the past three months, revealing what and when people in the country listen to most. The season's main trend is a phenomenal interest in business literature and classic novels, along with a rise in popularity of local podcasts in audio format, reports infohub.kz.

The undisputed leader in the platform's audiobook ranking is the cult financial literacy book 'The Richest Man in Babylon' by George S. Clason. It holds the top spot both in terms of unique listeners and listening time. The top three also includes timeless classic novels: 'Wuthering Heights' by Emily Brontë and 'The Count of Monte Cristo' by Alexandre Dumas.

Additionally, the top ten most sought-after audiobooks on the platform include fundamental works: 'The Art of War' by Sun Tzu, Homer's 'Odyssey', and a collection of Jules Verne's works.

MEGOGO's analytics show that listeners pay special attention to local content. Kazakhstani projects have firmly secured their place in the top ten most popular audio products: the podcasts 'Kino aitshy' and 'Ake tolgagy'. The popular podcast 'Zamandas' also consistently ranks high.

An analysis of genre preferences reveals that Kazakhstani users split their interest between classics and personal effectiveness. The most popular genres on the platform are: classical literature — 27.5% of the total audio audience; motivation and self-development — 15.7%; business and finance — 12.6%; adventure literature — 11.1%; children's literature — 5.4%.

Listening activity also varies by day of the week. The peak for audiobook and podcast listening consistently falls on Monday. This is likely because users are gearing up for a productive work week or passing time during morning commutes. Tuesday is the second most popular day for educational and book audio, with Friday coming in third. Sunday sees the least interest in podcasts and audiobooks.

"We see a steady trend towards conscious content consumption. Kazakhstani people are increasingly choosing audio for self-education, learning financial literacy, and exploring world classics. At the same time, we are delighted by the growing demand for Kazakh-language content and projects by local authors, which now compete on equal footing with global bestsellers," commented MEGOGO CEO Nurlan Chukubaev.
