Italy's cabinet, led by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, has become the longest-serving government in the country's history. This milestone was reached more than two years after taking office in the fall of 2022, reports infohub.kz.
In a post on social media platform X, Meloni noted that her cabinet has broken the record for the longest time in power in the history of the Italian Republic. "Today our government becomes the longest-lived in the history of the Italian Republic. This is a fact that I accept with gratitude and a strong sense of responsibility. Because stability is not a record to show off, but a condition that allows a nation to plan, make decisions, fulfill commitments, and earn respect," Meloni wrote.
She said that over these years, the Italian cabinet has worked to increase employment, reduce unemployment, support families and businesses, strengthen security, manage public finances seriously, and restore Italy's weight on the international stage. "The results are there, but we know well how much remains to be done. This stability is not the merit of one person. It is the result of a united coalition that has governed for four years with a shared vision and that chose to stay together not against someone, but to implement a project for Italy. I don't think it's a coincidence: from today, the three longest-lived governments in republican history are all center-right governments. Stability is built when an alliance shares values, goals, and a vision of the nation, not when the only reason to stick together is to prevent others from governing," Meloni said.
She also added that, in her opinion, stability exists thanks to the Italians who in 2022 entrusted this government with power over the country. "Trust that we have never considered a blank check and that we will never take for granted. Next year we will again appear before citizens with what we have done, what remains to be done, and our idea of the future. And once again they will decide if we deserve to continue this path. Meanwhile, work continues. And tonight we will meet in Bari, together with the large community of Fratelli d'Italia. It will be an opportunity to look each other in the eye, take stock of the path traveled, and above all, talk about what lies ahead. Forward, with feet on the ground and eyes on the future," Meloni said.
