The document was signed by Deputy Akim of Mangystau Region Abbat Urisbayev and Chairman of the Public Foundation 'Kıtap oqityn ult – Reading Nation' Bakytzhan Turlybekov.
The main goal of the cooperation is the joint implementation of the republican marathon 'Reading Nation' in the Mangystau region, the widespread promotion of a reading culture, the formation of a reading environment, and the enhancement of society's intellectual potential. This initiative will become one of the key mechanisms for implementing the presidential decree aimed at developing a reading culture, increasing the pursuit of knowledge, and building an educated nation.
During the meeting, Deputy Akim Abbat Urisbayev noted that the key goal of the 'Reading Nation' project is to instill a reading culture among the population, popularize national literature, and contribute to the formation of an intellectual nation.
'President Kassym-Jomart Kemelovich Tokayev pays special attention to fostering a reading culture in the country and enhancing the intellectual potential of the younger generation. After all, the foundation for raising a competitive, creative, and constructive personality is knowledge and books. In this regard, the purpose of today's initiative is clear. We must widely promote a reading culture in society, especially among the population, popularize national literature and educational values. The 'Reading Nation' project is planned to be implemented at a high level in all districts and cities of the Mangystau region,' said Abbat Urisbayev.
Bakytzhan Turlybekov, Chairman of the Public Foundation 'Kıtap oqityn ult – Reading Nation', also emphasized the significance of the project.
'Forming a wise nation is not a task of one day or one project. It is a long-term process that changes the culture of society's thinking. It is especially important for us that this initiative is being implemented on the sacred land where such great personalities as the outstanding writer Abish Kekilbayev were born. We are confident that a productive and meaningful partnership will develop with the Mangystau region in this direction,' said Bakytzhan Turlybekov.
Under the memorandum, various public educational events, reading initiatives, and regional stages of the marathon will be organized to promote reading.
The project involves the Writers' Union of Kazakhstan, the Creative Industries Development Fund, and Yandex Qazaqstan together with the Yandex Books service. The project is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
