France forward Michael Olise surpassed the legendary Brazilian Pelé’s record and made football history at the 2026 World Cup, according to infohub.kz.
The French finished the tournament with a bronze match against England, which they lost 4-6. In that game, Olise provided two assists to forward Kylian Mbappé. Thanks to these assists, Mbappé became the all-time leading scorer in World Cup history.
Olise finished the tournament with seven assists, breaking Pelé's record for assists in a single World Cup, set in 1970. Five of Olise's seven assists went to Mbappé, a World Cup record for a single duo. Olise himself did not score any goals at the 2026 World Cup.
