Russia and Kazakhstan are working together to ensure the physical security of facilities of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) amid regular drone attacks. This was stated by Alexander Sternik, director of the Third Department of CIS Countries at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to infohub.kz.

According to the Russian diplomat, the issue of protecting CPC infrastructure, including the marine terminal in Novorossiysk, is constantly on the agenda of negotiations with Kazakh partners, who, he noted, are seriously alarmed by terrorist attacks against the consortium's facilities.

"The issue of ensuring the physical security of CPC facilities, including the marine terminal in Novorossiysk, is regularly discussed with Kazakh partners, who are greatly concerned by terrorist attacks against the consortium's facilities. We are taking joint measures to ensure the pipeline's operation through contacts with Western shareholders of CPC," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Sternik emphasized that disruptions to the operation of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium cause tangible damage to the stability of energy supplies to the global market and could provoke fuel price increases worldwide.

The diplomat recalled that since February 2025, CPC facilities and tankers transporting Kazakh oil have been regularly subjected to drone strikes. This year alone, eight such attacks have already been recorded. In all cases, the raw materials being transported were intended for Western recipients.

"It is only natural that many foreign leaders express concern over the uncontrolled escalation of 'drone' attacks," Alexander Sternik concluded.
