Olympic figure skating champion Mikhail Shaidorov has reflected on his performance at the Grand Prix stage in China, where he scored 263.49 points across two programs to finish fifth, infohub.kz reports.
Earlier, at the stage in France, the Kazakh skater placed tenth and failed to qualify for the Grand Prix Final. His first event of the season was the Ondrej Nepela Memorial in Bratislava, where he won bronze at the Challenger competition.
"I was very nervous today, but I really enjoyed competing here. After the French Grand Prix, everything was bad. I really want to get better and compete with myself — I think I managed that today. I strive to improve every season. I hope next year will be even better. It was difficult, and I am still not fully recovered. But I think things will come together as the season goes on. I am glad that after the Olympics I can motivate young figure skaters in Kazakhstan, and I really want to support them," Shaidorov said.
